TACEO Applauds County Election Officials on Conducting Fair, Accurate, and Secure Elections in Texas

AUSTIN, TX – After record-breaking turnout for a midterm general election in Texas, Texas Association of County Election Officials (TACEO) President and Bastrop County Elections Administrator Kristin Miles issued the following statement:

"We applaud the incredible work and dedication of county election officials, staff, and poll workers in all 254 Texas counties who delivered a fair, accurate, and secure election for Texas voters during the 2026 General Election. Despite technological and logistical challenges, county election officials demonstrated unwavering professionalism, integrity, and commitment to every voter who cast a ballot.

"As the official canvass and certification process continues over the coming days and weeks, Texans can be proud of the work their local county election officials undertake year-round to ensure every eligible Texas voter has a voice in the future of our local communities, our state, and our nation. These dedicated public servants stand on the front lines of protecting the integrity and accuracy of our elections, which are foundational to our democracy. We are grateful for and humbled by the trust that Texas voters have placed in us to conduct secure elections, and we take that responsibility seriously every single day.

"Our work is not over. County election officials across Texas are continuing to ensure every legal, eligible ballot is included in the final official count. This includes mail ballots received by today’s 5 p.m. deadline, military and overseas ballots that may arrive up to six days after Election Day, and provisional ballots from voters who return to show acceptable ID. Counties will then complete the local canvass by November 17 before results are certified.

"As we look ahead to the 90th Texas Legislature convening in January, TACEO looks forward to working with state leadership to enhance transparency and efficiency in voter registration, voter list maintenance, vendor accountability, and election administration so that Texans can continue to have confidence in free, fair, accurate, and secure elections."
